Bio

I teach courses in both the Student Affairs and Academic Advising graduate programs at Kansas State University. Prior to joining Kansas State as a faculty member, I worked in a variety of student affairs areas and served as an athletic advisor/life skills counselor for the University of Nebraska and the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. I have been active in N4A since 2005, serving on the Board of Directors (2009-2010, 2018-2020), planning the 2010 national convention in Salt Lake City, and being recognized by my peers with the Kenneth O. Miles Professional Promise Award in 2009. I served as chair of the N4A Research Committee (2015-2017) and served as co-chair of the Student-Athlete Development Committee in 2008-2009. In 2017, I was named one of the Top 25 Woman Leaders in Higher Education by Diverse: Issues in Higher Education magazine. I received the 2018 NCAA Innovations in Research and Practice Grant, 2019 N4A Professional Excellence Award, and 2020 N4A Gerald S. Gurney Research Award.
